Zen Bathroom

Furniture-inspired design, peaceful feel

Challenge: Straight outta the 50's came this lovely (snarky here) pink and blue bathroom complete with white plywood cabinets and a sheet linoleum floor. Ready for a change? I think so!

Solution: The bathroom design started out with a furniture piece believe it or not. The two side towers that flank the white porcelain vessel sink atop an exotic wood pedestal came from India as a three tower piece. Well, after I cut out the center tower, I relocated the sides into the bathroom and the colors took off from there. The shower surround was gutted and in its place, Mediterranean travertine with a recycled glass-mosaic tile inset. Bamboo flooring completes the look while a custom window dressing just reinforces the mood of this calming retreat.
